Sunday, January 26 (10a-1p) A Work of Heart Studio - San Jose

Pulling prompts and seeing what happens is one of my favorite approaches to mixed media art making (or at least starting) This time together will expose you to a collection of mixed media techniques you can try time and again in alternating order to achieve different and exciting results each time. You will leave class with a deck of richly layered cards ready for future artwork, art journaling embellishment, card making, affirmation cards, wisdom cards and more. The process and the finished product are pure joy and engaging to the viewer.

Take your watercolor experience to the journal learning how your colors mix and play with one another. Add a quote or phrase or fill the whole page with colorful shapes and designs. This sort of watercolor play has you learning more about colors, color mixing, brush and water control.

Making personal art in a journal is so enjoyable. My art journal is a place to explore mediums and materials, techniques and flavors of artist I admire. This session is dedicated to actually "living in" your personal art journal, handmade or otherwise. Bring it along and together we can explore mixed media techniques and supplies to make stunning spreads.

this month we are focusing on Proximity and Surface Design.

Working on a cohesive series is the focus of this workshop. You will be provided with 6 panels and we will curate papers (painted and printed) and other ephemera, paint and marks to create a series of collage that is harmonious

We start with a parent sheet, richly layered with paper, paint and marks. A bit of folding, cutting and glueing to turn your parent sheet into a complete journal with pages ready to continue to create on.

We will work on 2 parent sheets in rotation through the 3 hour workshop. This mixed media approach will heavily feature water media, watercolor, inks, crayons etc. with the inclusion of some acrylic painted papers and ephemera. You will leave with parent sheets ready for further layer or to be torn down for pages of an art journal
