Use what you have, buy what you need
Supplies we used
- ( 2 )Pieces of unprimed canvas (canvas drop cloth or canvas duck) or heaviest weight fabric you have (10” x 25” + 7.5” x 13”)
- ( 5-6 ) pieces of various fabrics to dye (measuring appx 5”x7”)
- ( 2-3 ) pieces of sari ribbon/rayon seam binding/cotton strips (measuring appx 12” long)
- Under paper (scrap paper to catch the extra inky paint)
- ( 2 ) colors of acrylic paint + acrylic ink (optional but ideal)
- Small cups for watering down acrylic paint/ink
- Paint Brush (1/2”-1” flat or shader) + Pipette (optional)
- Gloves (optional)
- Book page +Matte Medium + Sheer Fabric (cheese cloth)
- Foam Stamps + Brayer
- ( 1 ) Legal sized manila folder or 2 pieces of manila cardstock measuring 10.5”x7.5”
- Glue Stick
- Awl (or Japanese screw punch or crop-a-dile) + Waxed Cord
- Needle + embroidery (or sashiko) thread
- Ruler + Pencil
- Pins
- ( 2 )sheet protectors
- Dryer or Heat Tool for drying
I thoroughly enjoyed this project. The painting and mark making and stenciling my own fabric was very satisfying for me a quilter for so many years. And designing my own carryall under the different approaches by both Andrea and Brooke was very inspiring.
